“The field of psychiatric medicine has chosen to view many of the long-term effects of trauma as an incurable disease, only marginally controllable by drugs or through behavior management. I do not agree. While medications can at times be quite helpful, they are–of themselves–insufficient. In working with trauma for more than three decades, I have come to the conclusion that human beings are born with an innate capacity to triumph over trauma. I believe not only that trauma is curable, but that the healing process can be a catalyst for profound awakening–a portal opening to emotional and genuine spiritual transformation. I have little doubt that as families, communities, and even nations, we have the capacity to learn how to heal and prevent much of the damage done by trauma. In so doing, we will significantly increase our ability to achieve both our individual and collective dreams.” – Peter Levine,  Healing Trauma, 2008, page 10.

This has been my story: not just relieving the symptoms of my C-PTSD/PTSD, but actually releasing it. It is curable. I haven’t used any medications, and behavior learned while under the management of PTSD in any form will require some after-healing correction, as it did for me. I have experienced a very profound awakening: a felt, embodied expression of my cognitive, conscious, emotional, and physical reality. That is what I refer to as “spirituality.”

The capacity to heal is innate and it requires relatively little to learn how to use it. I have been surprised and blessed by this work I do, not by its simplicity, but by its power. It has been an upward trend since day one. I’ve also discovered on this upward climb, ravines and valleys that require descending and don’t feel “upward,” yet every day, I know I am gaining altitude. As a tool, in my decades of looking for a good one, TRE® is far and away the best I’ve encountered for many reasons. It is the one that has made it possible for me to achieve my dreams, far beyond what I expected.
